Manual Handling Sessions

Many Manual Handling classes tend to be dry, relying on tedious PowerPoint presentations that fail to engage participants or inspire lasting change.

At Fortify Occupational Health Solutions, we prioritise engaging our clients through dynamic demonstrations and meaningful, empowering feedback. Our approach ensures that participants remain active and involved throughout the course.

Customised to meet your company’s specific needs, we can develop and deliver a tailored Manual Handling Course. This course will focus on high-risk tasks relevant to your operations while also covering the necessary Manual Handling directives mandated by legislation.

Alternatively, we offer a comprehensive overview of Manual Handling, highlighting common lifting techniques and addressing the biopsychosocial risks associated with accidents and injuries.

All sessions are conducted by experienced physiotherapists who are well-equipped to answer questions with expertise and insight.

Pre-Employment Screenings

Pre-Employment Functional Screening presents a valuable opportunity to confirm that prospective employees meet the necessary functional and physical requirements for their roles. This proactive approach can significantly reduce workplace injuries and minimise WorkCover claims and costs.

At Fortify Occupational Health Solutions, we thoroughly assess the specific physical demands of each job role, crafting a Functional Screen tailored to those requirements.

We then conduct the Pre-Employment Functional Screen on-site at your facility, providing a risk rating (green, yellow, or red) for each candidate just minutes after completing the assessment.

Job Task Analysis

A well-crafted Job Task Analysis (JTA) report provides an objective breakdown of specific job tasks.

We analyse each task by exploring:

  • Physical components — including the weights of items lifted, push/pull forces, step/ladder heights, postural requirements, and the repetition and duration of tasks.
  • The psychological, cognitive, and behavioral demands of the role.
  • Shift times and cycle durations, highlighting peak periods.
  • Environmental factors influencing the location where tasks are performed.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements for the role.

At Fortify Occupational Health Solutions, we develop a meaningful report by engaging with key stakeholders to discuss the scope of the job and its tasks. We consult experienced staff members to understand the nuances of their roles, review existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and actively observe and measure relevant factors using tools such as force gauges, measuring tapes, and stopwatches.

The JTA report we create serves multiple purposes:

  • Providing valuable insights to offsite healthcare professionals, facilitating the reintegration of injured workers into their roles.
  • Offering objective information that can serve as a foundation for developing effective Pre-Employment Screening assessments.
  • Utilising the data to identify hazards and proactively implement controls to mitigate the risk of injury.

Risk Assessment and Reporting

Once a specific hazard is identified, it becomes essential to conduct a comprehensive Risk Assessment to thoroughly explore effective strategies for mitigation and management of that hazard.

At Fortify Occupational Health Solutions, we take a systematic and methodical approach to identify and analyse various types of hazards. We assess both the likelihood and severity of potential harm that may arise, and we work collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to develop targeted solutions that aim to eliminate the risk entirely or, at the very least, significantly reduce its likelihood and severity.

Onsite Physiotherapy

Onsite physiotherapy is an effective strategy for proactively managing workplace injuries. By delivering prompt and expert care, we can often address soft tissue injuries while your employees remain safely at work.

At Fortify Occupational Health Services, our skilled physiotherapists provide individualised assessments and create tailored treatment plans that cater to each patient's unique needs.

We take the time to understand the specific job roles within your organisation and their associated physical demands. This allows us to support workers in staying on the job while avoiding tasks that could aggravate their injuries.

Timely and targeted diagnosis and intervention can significantly reduce WorkCover cases, lowering insurance premiums and enhancing staff morale at the same time.

Ergonomic Assessments

Many companies invest substantially in ergonomic office equipment to enhance employee well-being. However, staff frequently lack the guidance needed to effectively use and maximise these resources, leading to ongoing postural pain and discomfort.

At Fortify Occupational Health Solutions, we bring our expertise directly to your workplace to empower your team with the knowledge to optimise their workstations.

In addition, we conduct comprehensive in-office assessments, providing detailed reports on the best office equipment options (such as desks, chairs, monitor arms, standing pads, and foot stools) tailored to support your employees' needs. After the equipment is installed, we can return to ensure that your staff is fully trained on how to make the most of their new tools.
